Our Story
The Mary Potter Foundation, a South Australian charity, has been around since 1987 when it was recognised that the Mary Potter Hospice could not survive without support from the community. A group of dedicated people closely associated with the Hospice formed an auxiliary that became an incorporated association in 1988.
Since then, thanks to the support of generous and caring South Australians the Mary Potter Hospice has remained as one of the most important and highly regarded providers of in-patient palliative and end of life care. Hundreds of patients and their families every year are so grateful for the compassion, the dignity and the love that the Hospice team brings into their lives.
The Mary Potter Foundation has been privileged to play a part through community support to ensure that care is there every day it is needed, and that the facilities along with staff skills and knowledge are continually improved to provide the best possible environment and standard of care for everyone.
